After the Worlds we begin our overseas tour with a voyage to Bute, with points to prove. It was not a notably early departure but just late enough to miss the ferry and force us into local cafés for bacon rolls and strong coffee.

Where Worlds Collide

Friday of Worlds week used to be the Grade 1 qualifiers when bands from the Antipodes played twice then went home but this year there have been changes and all the bands will play four times over two days and all the results get tallied up. This means a lot of hard work for the Pipeys as they try to hone their sound and keep it. I, however, am in the house waiting for a furniture delivery and looking at the rain glad to not be out in it.

The watching of weather apps on phones becomes compulsive on the run up to a Highland Games and the forecast for Sunday the wetth of June wasn’t looking good but as the week drove on the expected gloom stayed in England. There was a lot of searching for capes and general resignation of damp to follow.

A Day at the Racecourse

The British Championships is a local event for us and as such it’s a morning of lazy baths and leisurely gardening the only small cloud on the horizon was how we were getting there. Glorious Start to the Season

The week before Gourock games and the first outdoor competition saw us playing at Clydeport and fretting about the weather for Saturday, Pipey got a wee bit older and we hope wiser. Gourock is historically a wet and muddy affair but since the move to Battery Park the rain has been unable to find us and sunscreen and bush hats have been the order of the day.
